What should I do if I get a “Web connection failure” message, or “Check your Internet connection”? Why did I get this message?

This message means that CorrectEnglish cannot establish a connection with its host servers. Likely causes are firewall interference or lack of physical connectivity (an unplugged/faulty network connection, weak wireless signal, or being not logged into your Internet Service Provider (ISP)).

To diagnose the issue:

Open a browser window (example: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari for Windows).

If you can display web content properly, then you do not have a physical connectivity issue. The error most likely results from your firewall or antivirus software, or proxy/network settings. Click here for more information and help with these kind of connection errors.

If you cannot display web content, check your physical or wireless connection.

Open CorrectEnglish.
Go to Options.
Click Test Connection.

If you cannot get into CorrectEnglish, it is likely that your firewall or network security is blocking CorrectEnglish from reaching the Internet. Check your firewall and security programs for how to add exceptions. Click here for more information.
